Pyramids's Loneliness

On the sandy banks of the River Nile
Sat a Soldier Boy at even tide
And as he the weary hours beguile.
Thought of loved ones o'er the Ocean wide
Shouts and laughter filled his ears
from comrades brave and bold
In taht distant camp so still and white
He heeded not the laughter as he gazed on waters deep
But sent this song a stealing thro'the night
Like the lonelines that hovers round the Pyramids

I left that sunny clime
Where Gum trees grow and skies are ever blue

Gazing blankly at the empty chair
