Where the place called morning lies!
何處是天明！
I never seen a moor,
我從未見過沼澤，
I never seen the sea;
我從未見過大海；
Yet know I how the heather looks,
但我知道石楠的容貌，
And what a wave must be.
還有波濤的模樣。
I never spoke with God,
我從未與上帝交談，
Nor visited him in heaven;
也未曾在天國拜訪過他；
Yet certain am I of the spot
但我對那個地方確信無疑，
As if the charts were given
彷彿擁有地圖。
Will there really be a morning?
黎明會降臨嗎？
Is there such a thing as day?
是否真的有天亮之時？
Could I see it from the mountains
我是否能在山上看到它
If I were as tall as they?
如果我和這些山一樣高
Has it feet like water -lilies?
它的雙足是否輕如睡蓮？
Has it feathers like a bird?
它是否擁有鳥兒一樣的羽毛？
Is it brought from famous countries
它是否來自名勝之地
Of which I have never heard?
