i met you halloween night, oh my
how your eyes lit up the room
bright as the full moon
everyone was dressed in costumes
but we weren't pretending
we knew it was real, maybe a bit scary
to know how it feels, to fall
to fall like there is nothing to lose at all
and so came november
my hand in yours
cool crisp air but i stayed so warm
in your crewneck sweater
apple pies and rainy skies
smores by the bonfire
you made a joke i forget
but my cheeks turned red
red as the leaves on the trees
fluttering down down down
just falling free, like you and me
blissfully thinking it would last forever
if i had known then what i know now
watching them hit the ground, yeah
without a sound
and i still don't know what went wrong
but quick as it came it was gone
that winter day, i watched it fade
and so the end of the fall
