When Martin Died

When it was announced that Martin Luther King had been killed,
宣布馬丁·路德金遇刺身亡的那天
I think every black person just froze in their tracks,
我想每個黑人都一下子失掉了神
and in their minds,
在他們心裡
they were saying 'Where we go from here?'
一定在說著“我該何去何從？”
It gave you joy just to hear him quote the sentence 'I have a dream.'
聽他談及“我有一個夢想”時會帶來歡笑
It did something to your whole body.
那會使你深刻感受到某些東西
Just went from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet,
是種從頭到腳的震撼貫穿全身
and you would say 'This is Martin Luther King ;
而你會說“快看！這是馬丁·路德金”
hes speaking,and we have to sit down and listen and enjoy what hes saying.'

And Id love to see what youd call a utopia.

Everybody getting along in peace,joy,happiness.

Im sure fifty years from now,I wont be here to see it,

but this would be my hope for my grandchildren and their children and their children to come,

and we just pray that God will continue to bless.
