Then naked and white,all their bags left behind
把工具袋丟下，赤條條的，白白的
They rise upon clouds,and sport in the wind
他們升到雲端，在風中嬉戲
And the angel told Tom,if he'd be a good boy“
只要你做個好孩子，”天使對湯姆說
He'd have God for his father,and never want joy“
上帝會做你的父親，永不缺少歡喜。”
And so Tom awoke,and we rose in the dark
湯姆於是夢醒，我們在黑暗中起床
And got with our bags and our brushes to work
拿起工具袋和刷子去幹活
Though the morning was cold,Tom was happy and warm
晨風雖冷，湯姆自感心歡溫暖
So,if all do their duty,they need not fear harm

Father,father, where are you going?

Orelse I shall be lost
不然我就要迷路啦！
The night was dark, no father was there
漆黑的夜裡，不見了爸爸
The child was wet with dew
露水淋濕了小孩
The mire was deep, and the child did weep
泥沼又深，小孩流淚了
And away the vapour flew
夜霧向四處飛散開來

小男孩又找到了》
The little boy lost in the lonely fen
小男孩迷失在荒涼的沼澤地裡
Led by the wandering light
只有那搖曳的燈光指引他前進，
Began to cry,but God,ever nigh
他開始大哭，但是上帝就在靠近
Appeared like his father,in white
穿著白衣出現，正像他的父親
He kissed the child, and by the hand led
他親吻著孩子，牽著他的手
And to his mother brought
把他帶到他母親身邊來
Who in sorrow pale, through the lonely dale
她臉色慘白，走遍荒涼的溪谷
Her little boy weeping sought
哭泣著尋找她的小男孩

歡笑的歌》
When the green woods laugh with the voice of joy
當綠綠的樹林發出歡樂的笑聲
And the dimpling stream runs laughingby
微波漣漪的溪流也嘩笑著飛奔
When the air does laugh with our merry wit
當輕風伴著我們的情趣同歡笑
And the green hill laughs with the noise of it
那青青的山谷也笑得多麼熱鬧
When the meadows laugh with lively green
當那碧綠綠的一片片草地歡笑
And the grasshopper laughs in the merry scene

When Mary and Susan and Emily

With their sweet round mouths sing Ha ha he!

When the painted birds laugh in the shade

Where our table with cherries and nuts is spread

Sweet dreams, form a shade O'er my lovely infant's head
甜蜜的夢築成一片濃陰，籠罩著我可愛的幼兒頭頂
Sweet dreams of pleasant streams By happy, silent, moony beams! Sweet Sleep, with soft down
甜蜜的夢中溪水歡快地流淌，伴隨著幸福而恬靜的月光，甜蜜的睡眠、柔發低垂
Sweet smiles, in the night Hover over my delight! Sweet smiles, mother's smiles, All the livelong night beguiles. Sweet moans, dovelike sighs
甜蜜的微笑在夜間，在我的寶貝頭上盤旋，母親微笑是甜蜜的微笑，長夜漫漫就這樣消逝了。甜蜜的呻吟，溫柔的嘆息
Chase not slumber from thy eyes! Sweet moans, sweeter smiles

All the dovelike moans beguiles . Sleep, sleep, happy child! All creation slept and smiled. Sleep, sleep, happy sleep,While o'er thee thy mother weep.

Infant smiles are His own smiles;
兒童的微笑就是他的笑臉
Heaven and earth to peace beguiles.

Chapter 12《The Divine Image》《
上帝的形象》
To Mercy, Pity, Peace, and Love, All pray in their distress, And to these virtues of delight
受苦受難的人都祈求仁慈、憐憫、愛與和平：而對這些使人喜悅的德行
Return their thankfulness
又報以他們感謝之心
For Mercy, Pity, Peace,and Love
本來仁慈、憐憫、愛與和平
Is God our Father dear;
就是上帝，我們親愛的父親
And Mercy, Pity, Peace, and Love, Is man, His child and care.
而仁慈、憐憫、愛與和平，又是人，他的孩子和親人
For Mercy has a human heart;
本來仁慈有一顆人的心
Pity, a human face; And Love, the human form divine:
憐憫有一副人的臉，愛有神化身的人形
And Peace the human dress
而和平有人的衣衫
Then every man, of every clime,
於是每一個人來自各個地方
That prays in his distress
一切受苦受難的人
Prays to the human form divine:
都祈求神化身的人形
Love, Mercy, Pity, Peace
賜與仁慈、憐憫、愛與和平
And all must love the human form
人人都必須愛這個人形
In heathen , Turk, or Jew
不論是異教徒、穆斯林或猶太
Where Mercy, Love, and Pity dwell
只要哪裡有仁慈、愛與憐憫
There God is dwelling too
哪裡就有上帝與它們同在

升天節》
Twas on a holy Thursday, their innocent faces clean
在升天節裡孩子們洗乾淨了天真的臉蛋
The children walking two and two, in red, and blue, and green
他們一對對走著穿著紅的藍的綠的衣衫
Grey-headed beadles walked before, with wands as white as snow
白髮的教區助理拿著雪白的拐杖向前行
Till into the high dome of Paul's they like Thames waters flow
像泰晤士河的水流進了聖保羅的圓屋頂
O what a multitude they seemed, these flowers of London town!
啊這兒一大群人他們像是倫敦城的鮮花
Seated in companies they sit, with radiance all their own
他們並坐在一起各個的面容都神釆煥發
The hum of multitudes was there, but multitudes of lambs
這一大堆嗡嗡之聲不過是一群群小羊羔
Thousands of little boys and girls raising their innocent hands
千萬個男孩和女孩把天真的手舉得高高
Now like a mighty wind they raise to heaven the voice of song
這時像一陣大風驟起他們歌聲飛上天空
Or like harmonious thunderings the seats of heaven among
又像是和諧的雷鳴使天庭的眾交椅震動
Beneath them sit the aged men, wise guardians of the poor
坐在下方的長者是窮苦人的賢明保護人
Then cherish pity, lest you drive an angel from your door
那麼施以憐憫吧免得你把天使逐出大門
Chapter 14《Night》
《夜》
The sun descending in the West
太陽沉落在西方
The evening star does shine
晚星的光芒四射
The birds are silent in their nest, And I must seek for mine
鳥兒在巢裡無聲響，我也要尋覓我的巢
The moon, like a flower In heaven's high bower, With silent delight
月亮像一朵花，在天庭中高掛；沉默的愉快逍遙
Sits and smiles on the night
坐著對夜晚微笑
Farewell, green fields and happy groves
再見，綠色的田野，歡騰的小樹林
Where flocks have took delight
在那裡羊群多麼開心
Where lambs have nibbled, silent moves The feet of angels bright
在那裡小羊把青草啃，天使的腳步如此輕盈
Unseen, they pour blessing, And joy without ceasing, On each bud and blossom
他們暗中灑下祝福，不停地給予歡欣鼓舞，給每一朵花每一顆蓓蕾
And each sleeping bosom
每一顆心正在安睡
